What is Centrecare?
Centrecare is a Charitable Trust established in 1987 in Napier to support adult people with a severe mental illness/disorder to live well and work in the wider Napier Community. Centrecare was accredited by Quality Health New Zealand in 2008, and 2010 . It was described by the accreditors as a service of excellence, and was a finalist in the Westpac EIT Not-for –Profit Business Awards 2011.
What does Centrecare do?
Centrecare supports personal Recovery by providing person-centred , community based, integrated, services. These include: supported accommodation, community support, community participation and supported employment for people with moderate to severe mental illness in Napier.
How does Centrecare support the family/whanau?
Centrecare highly values partnerhip with family/whanu. We believe family/whanau can be a client’s strongest supporters. Centrecare encourages family/whanau involvement at the first point of client referral where this is the wish both of the client and the family/whanau. Family/whanau may have long term ongoing relationships with their family members who are client of our services. The Centrecare Trust Board includes a family member.
How can I be assured Centrecare will protect privacy?
Centrecare has developed policy which recognizes that all clients have a right to personal and informational privacy.
How is Centrecare funded?
Centrecare is funded through contracts from the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board, the Ministry of Social Development and the CCT Works Enterprise. As a registered Charitable Trust, Centrecare also welcomes donations.
Who is eligible to receive assistance from Centrecare?
Centrecare is contracted by the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board(HB DHB) to provide adult residential services for people with high and complex needs who have a chronic Axis I diagnosis. Usually this means schizophrenia or a related psychotic disorder. The HBDHB also contracts Centrecare to provide community support for adults living independently in the community with diagnoses of psychosis, depression and anxiety.
How do I refer a client/patient to Centrecare?
If you have a person who you think may benefit from our services and would like to refer to our services you are welcome to contact Centrecare to discuss the process. Generally referral is a collaboration between the nursing and medical staff of the mental health services at the HB DHB and Centrecare.
If I have a mental illness and want to work can I contact Centrecare myself?
Yes. By phone or by email. Discuss your request with the manager or staff member.
